In these trying times, may I bring some recs for Murderbot + its least favorite (also only) augmented human?

  1. Full Disk Burn by fallintosanity (yopumpkinhead). Murderbot takes a backstage tour of a serial and winds up in an unexpected adventure. I enjoyed the interactions with Art and their observations.

  2. Ordinary Life by speranza and astolat. The dialogue and banter between John and Rodney was excellent and kept the story moving right along. Amusing and action packed.

  3. From the Shadows to the Light by PeaceHeather. Merlin post-S5 fic where everyone lives...everyone. As with many stories that are this long there is a lot of repetitive character thoughts and circular writing that could have been cut out. It could have been about a third shorter, in fact. That said, I enjoyed both the story ideas and the original characters, and I think this did quite a good job in taking us from what we got in canon to where it should have gone. The story balances both Arthur and Merlin and getting them mentally and emotionally to a point where they could truly work together. I do wish, given the story's length, that we could have gotten more of that but I think it left off in a place where we could see everything coming together.

  4. floating, sinking by shuofthewind. Another "everybody lives" story, this picks up from the destruction of Scarif to characters in bacta tanks and in a bad way. Nonetheless Jyn is obsessed with getting the plans into the Alliance's hands given Leia's capture. Another lengthy story I thought dragged on a bit too long, but then I'm also not a shippy reader for the fandom. There is a fair amount of suspense in terms of seeing the team finally meet up with the soon-to-be-heroes of the Rebellion aboard the Death Star, and I thought it did a good job of melding the grimmer view of Rogue One with the more optimistic one of New Hope.

  5. An Ever-Fixed Mark by AMarguerite. Soulmark AU of Pride and Prejudice. I thought the tone and characterizations were really enjoyable and the long road to conclusion an enjoyable one to follow.

  1. [Vid] Rebels Rising by condnsdmlk. A reminder that it's Star Wars and that the Rebellion lives. A great ride.

  2. Hercule Polycule by Kerguelen. So fun to watch! The song alone would make you laugh but the perfect choices throughout to set up Poirot, Hastings and Japp in this jaunty little vid is a delight to canon fan and non-fan alike.

  3. Murderbot's Law by pendrecarc. Captures Murderbot's voice very well and is a nice mini-adventure.

  4. [FANVID] So Emotional by Emcee1138. "A tribute to Spock and all of the people who love him." Spock across the different series. That shrug at 8 seconds in -- HA!

  5. Explosions by PoliticalPadmé (magnetgirl). An excellent look at the connections and conflicts across the Star Wars generations with some striking transitions and matched shots across films.
