This song choice is inspired, and the editing is top notch. Both perfectly fit the show's combination of humour and darkness—the upbeat retro cheer and the corporate horror—and the verses are mapped impeccably to the four main characters in a way that had me grinning when I realized what order we'd be seeing our leads in. I particularly love how the meaning of "I owe my soul" shifts subtly character by character, knowing what we do about what brought them to Lumon and who they’ve become there.

Project Organizers' Description:

For many fans of Our Flag Means Death, and particularly for fans of Izzy Hands, one scene had particular gravitas. In this scene, Izzy went from his lowest—alone and angry, drowning his sorrows—to being given a gift. A gift of a prosthetic for his lost limb, and a gift of community. The crew saw that he was hurting and put aside their own issues to tell him we see you, we care about you, we want you here. We believe that you can grow past this and we'll help.

Importantly, the prosthetic was created from the figurehead of the Revenge, the unicorn. On sailing ships, figureheads have always been signifiers of the ship itself, images of protection, and the crew chose Izzy to embody this. They chose him as their new figurehead—someone to care about them and lead them. They chose Izzy to embody the spirit of the ship.

This is a message that resonated with Licorne. In Spring of 2024 they envisioned this project as a tribute to both the character of Izzy Hands and to Con O'Neill, who brought Izzy to life in such a captivating manner. The community rallied behind them, and we're proud to present the combined effort.

This scene was one of my favourite moments of season 2, and is still up there among my favourite moments of television. "Much love" is an apt close to the message from the organizers, because the love put into this project by its participants really shines through, especially in the gallery where you can see each individual piece of art that came together to create something bigger in the spirit of collaboration and community.

VID: my type by

augustusgloopswag. Gen, lots of characters. Song by Saint Motel is a swinging upbeat number with lots of brass, aka the PERFECT song choice for this franchise. I think I've watched this five times already. CW for some brief/implied gore, but this goes fairly light relative to the movies. Just a really fun time.

Strip the Paint by

Lawrence/Adam, 36k. After they both survive Saw I, they have a lot of recovering to do. There are a number of fics in the tag on this theme, but this is the first one I read and probably my favorite. I enjoyed the slow progression, the character voices, and all the little details, and I especially enjoyed one of the late reveals. Just really satisfying mutual h/c and recovery.

Lawrence/Adam, 22k. Adam is in a time loop. His ankle is chafed, he’s craving a cheeseburger, and he may or may not be falling for Dr. Lawrence Gordon. It’s the worst day of his life—and there’s no end in sight. What a terrible period of one's life to live over and over again! What a great fic premise! :D This hits all your basic time loop beats, but with an extra kick because of how things end every time. I enjoyed the angst and relationship development a lot.

Ley lines by

Lawrence/Adam, 37k. Seven years after surviving Saw I and several thousand miles away, Adam is really unhappy to run into Lawrence again. I apparently am a huge sucker for reunion fic, and this one is really fun as they work through their respective damage. Plus, the sun-soaked Arizona setting is a nice contrast with canon.

Year of the Pig by

Lawrence/Adam, 4k. Kramer, a man in Adam’s friend’s apartment building, died expectedly and without mystery. He left little behind save for a typewritten film criticism of The Gordon Record. HOUSE OF LEAVES AU. This is short but sweet, by which I mean angsty and creepy in the best way. Adam plays the role of Johnny Truant, which IMO is a huge improvement, with all Adam's trauma and backstory. This is definitely a very remixed version of the novel. I love the gradual reveal of how much of Saw canon applies here, and the ending is perfect, very much in the spirit of the book.

Northwest Passage by ExtraPenguin. A celebration of Molly Cobb from For All Mankind. Humanity missed out on having heroes like this.
Come Forth Now by alba17. A great recruiter vid for Andor. So well edited and paced and featuring so many characters and their roles. Just excellent.

Nerds of the Earth, take note! by Betty, Emeraldwoman. Alec Hardison is kidnapped by SHIELD and gets to really test his skills. Fun Leverage/MCU crossover idea.

chaos, yet harmony by rain_sleet_snow. "A pair of galactic drifters build their lives in the shadow of the Empire." Eventual Jyn Erso/Ahsoka Tano but mostly an idea of where each may have ended up pre Rogue One, working as partners, and what their lives were made of after each cut loose from everything they'd known.

Death as a Habit (Torchwood, 2K, canon pairings)
Really sweet "everyone lives" AU focused on Tosh, Owen, and Ianto, with a pregnant (and adorable) Tosh, and Ianto having trouble coping with the idea that he never expected to live this long.

Hang On Sloopy by

estellemccartney (Fanvid, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood)
Caveats: I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know how closely this vid tracks with what's actually in it, and I know that some people are violently allergic to a) Brad Pitt, and b) the way Tarentino films women, and this vid has a lot of both. But I really enjoyed it and found it bouncily rewatchable; I feel like it captures a certain vintage Feel in a way that I liked.

The Hunted - And another movie about a Native teen girl vs a classic horror monster! I still haven't seen this movie up, but this vid is great and moved it up my queue for sure.

The Jane/Joanie relationship was one of my favourite parts of Deadwood, and this vid does a gorgeous job of highlighting their moments as individual characters and as a couple. It shows in parallel the hard roads both characters fought their way down, through survival and into their sweeter moments together. Great song choice as well that captures the series' blend of historical and modern sensibilities.

The fire is all we know. by magnetgirl. What I thought was great about this vid is how it made a good argument for Holden and Avasarala being critical partners in saving the Earth and saving lives. I hadn't thought about it much given that they spend little time together in the series, but they were each one another's trump card.

[VID] Stronger (Together We Are) by lomelinde. "Stronger together—in good times and in bad." A very nice assemblage of Strange New World's ensemble in its first season.

My Power by eruthros. Wonderfully edited vid celebrating the Dora Milaje across various shows and comics.

Life During Wartime by starlady. There were various Festivid submissions for different characters and arcs in S1 of Andor, but I found this one tied things together so well.

Solid by runawaynun. I've seen various vids of Chrisjen and Bobbie as they are my favorite Expanse characters, but this vid is well named. It was great to see how both these women are badasses in their own right, and dependable as the day is long.

(extra)ordinary men by PetraPan. A Merlin adaptation of the 2015 film The Last Witch Hunter. This fusion worked quite well with the existing characters and I particularly enjoyed the roles Gaius and Mordred got to play. It was a treat to have the whole story fleshed out in a novella length story as so often these kinds of fusions are short.

From the Top by garamonder. Takes Peter B. Parker from Into the Spiderverse into the MCU to come across its Peter Parker. Across many days he comes to realize why having a team would be a real asset.

99 Problems by John Jay. Snappy vid focusing on Ben Kenobi's saber skills across movies and TV shows. Some lovely little edit matches and a nice ending to it all.

Black Helicopters at Dawn by whizzy. A semi self-exiled Rodney picks up a curious transmission and ends up befriending a stranded pilot. I really enjoyed the Sheppard and McKay voices, and was entertained by the story as it unspooled. Also a big thumbs up for its continuation Black Mountainside.

Mountains and Badgermolehills by Glass_Onion. "After the Blue Spirit frees the Avatar from the Pohuai Stronghold, Admiral Zhao captures Prince Zuko under suspicion of treason. Isolated from his Uncle and his crew, Zuko has only one ally: the chatty prisoner one cell over."

I laughed so much in the early chapters of this, Zuko and Sokka make for such a funny team. Although I felt Zuko was a little too woobified by the end, the story is a great approach to how Zuko could come to see the world in a different way.

Standing in the Way of Control by Trelkez. Beautiful looking Star Wars vid that ties things together so nicely across generations. Of struggles, victories and losses.

Steve Rogers: PR Disaster by idiopathicsmile. "The Story of Steve “Walking PR Nightmare” Rogers, and How For a Short While He Single-Handedly Destroyed the Emotional Health of Eva Laura Ortiz, His Now Ex-Publicist." As intriguing for a look at how things have changed for us less than we think, as it is funny to see happen to someone else.

That Don't Impress Me Much by hexenmeister. Even though I have only seen a few episodes of The West Wing, C.J. Cregg's personality comes across quite clearly. And I think someone would be hard pressed to make a better vid for her than this one.

Running Away From Home by atamascolily. "Finn learns to stop running away from and start running to." Wonderful look at Finn's journey and an excellent choice of musical track.

to treat everything as if it were a nail by thingswithteeth. "Jyn Erso is raised as a hostage of the Empire. It matters less than it should. There are many different ways to rebel." I loved reading a different arc to Jyn's story, one which builds slowly but with more hopeful developments.
