Rec the Thing

Hey, folks! Welcome to RECTEMBER, a reccing event with suggested reccing prompts! Thanks for everyone who commented on the feedback post. Thanks to your input, we’ve decided to have WEEKLY prompts. I’m going to go ahead and list them all below, but I’ll also make a weekly post to remind you of the week’s themes.

How this works:
- I post the weekly themes (three per week).
- You post recs to the comm by clicking "Post" above and selecting recthething in the "Post to" drop down menu, or by following this link. (Note: you will need to join the comm if you haven't yet.) You can post recs for one or more of the themes each week, in one or more posts to the comm. Tag the posts with fandoms as appropriate.

That’s it! That’s all there is to it. Here are our first week's themes. Posting for Week One is now open! (Let's be real, posting is always open.)

WEEK ONE THEMES
- Vids
- Works you've enjoyed many times
- Works about rarepairs

WEEK TWO THEMES
- Fanart
- Works for your favorite ship or character
- Works about an uncommon kink

WEEK THREE THEMES
- Works under 1k
- Works that made you fall in love with a new fandom/ship/character
- Works about a minor character

WEEK FOUR THEMES
- Works over 50k
- Underrated works (by whatever metric)
- Works about tiny fandoms (define this however you like!)

FAQ:
What if I only have one rec for the theme? Is it okay to post just one rec?
Absolutely! Our whole philosophy here is The More The Merrier. You can rec just one work, or you can post a list of lots of recs.

Can I rec more than one work per theme?
Yes, please post as many as you want! If you have several for a theme, it's a good idea to put them together in one post.

Can I put all my recs for the week in one post?
Yes! You can make a post per theme, or you can put them all together, or anything in between. I don't know if you've noticed, but we're extremely chill around here about this kind of thing. :D

Do the works I rec have to fit all the themes?
Nope! You can rec that way if you want, but any work that fits any of the weekly themes counts for Rectember.

What if I have recs that don't fit any of the themes? Can I still post those in September?
Yes please!! See above re: The More The Merrier. Rectember is just meant to add a little inspiration for those that want it, but it's completely optional. As always, feel free to rec anything that fits the comm guideliness at any time.

Will we still have Community Recs Posts in September?
Yep, we'll still have a community recs post every Thursday for your regular catch-all reccing needs.
